Dr. Thomas A. Zumbaugh is a board-qualified podiatric surgeon specializing in complex lower extremity limb preservation, wound care, and surgical reconstruction of chronic wounds and traumatic soft tissue injuries. He currently serves as Medical Director for New England Wound, an advanced service line under Connecticut Orthopaedics, where he provides surgical and office-based lower extremity wound care across Connecticut.

Previously, Dr. Zumbaugh was a founding partner and physician at Indy Wound Center for Limb Preservation and Reconstruction in Indianapolis, Indiana and served as Chief of Podiatric Surgery at the Franciscan Center for Limb Preservation. He also held clinical faculty appointments with the Ascension St. Vincent Podiatry Residency and the South-Central Pennsylvania Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Fellowship.

Dr. Zumbaugh earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating as Salutatorian with Summa Cum Laude honors. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, where he served as Chief Resident in the Division of Podiatric Surgery, and previously practiced as an Associate Physician at Martin Foot and Ankle in York, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zumbaugh is the Founding Member of Sentinel Medical Holdings, LLC, a medical consulting firm that provides advisory and consulting services to biotechnology companies nationwide. He is actively involved in medical education, limb preservation program development, and healthcare innovation, and has presented novel surgical techniques at national conferences.

Dr. Zumbaugh is board-qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds active podiatric licenses in Indiana and Connecticut and is a Fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing (FAPWH) and an Associate Member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).

He is dedicated to advancing comprehensive limb preservation programs and delivering exceptional, patient-centered care for complex lower extremity conditions. Outside of medicine, Dr. Zumbaugh is an avid runner who enjoys annual hiking trips throughout northern New England. He spends most of his free time with his wife and two dogs and is exploring new hobbies unique to Connecticut.
